Archer 50th - Jack on volunteering
This was from a video I took this past summer at the home of Don and Gloria Archer who were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. Don's brother-in-law Jack shared with Susie and I his thoughts about being a volunteer, something my dad did for many years.

Faces at Gracie's
Actually I wanted to call this "Faces at Grace's" but for obvious reasons I didn't and neither should you. Anyway, these images were taken this past summer during a going away party for Brendan, the former wine guru at Gracie's in Providence. Brendan moved on to Napa Valley and the greater wine world.

MOCA, the Museum of Computer Art
Gallery of the Museum of Computer Art
139 11th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues)
Brooklyn, NY 11215
718 788 1313
Anyone who has visited my digital art website knows the respect I have for Don Archer and all the wonderful work he has done over the years promoting digital art and, equally important, digital artists.
Well, now you can visit MOCA in person and without a computer.
Their new gallery is part of the dynamic Brooklyn, NY art scene. It is located in the Park Slope/Gowanus area that is being rapidly transformed from light industrial into an artists' enclave and upscale neighborhood.
The gallery is 1200 square feet in size and housed in a small new building along with artist studios on a mixed-use block of private homes, a playground/park, warehouses and service companies--the kind of neighborhood that Jane Jacob extolled in "The Death and Life of Great American Cities." Such neighborhoods are safe, vital and active 24 hours a day. And there's a subway line nearby, tying in the rest of the city. We love the space!
Come join us for our upcoming shows and receptions:
Digitalism 1 Exhibit runs from October 7 - 25, 2008. Reception is Saturday, October 11, 4 to 6 p.m.
On-line/On-wall Exhibit runs from November 4 - 26, 2008. Reception is Saturday, November 8, 4 - 6 p.m.
There is no charge for admission.
Open noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday when show is in progress. The gallery is closed Sundays and Mondays, and is closed between shows.
How to get there
By subway take the F train to Fourth Avenue station
or the M or R train to Ninth Street station. It's a short walk from the station.
By car navigate to the Park Slope/Gowanus section of Brooklyn,
sometimes called South of the Slope,
not far from the Lowes store off Hamilton Avenue.
